interesting fashion in paris than in london. the sense of humor makes them to play more with the clothes and everything. in paris, i could see what was chic in what was not. one time i was working and was arriving at an industry job, and i was wearing boots. they looked at me and said, [unintelligible] as a reproach. i thought, ha ha, very funny. [laughter] but it was beautiful, which can be true but it can be awful, too, a beige. it is not because it is beige, but it could be the absolute beauty, no. it depends how it is done, how it is made, how it looks like. so i was like, let's say, killing the french fashion. i should say france in general. so absolute. it has to be like that. things that i did not feel like. i think it's time i was going, i felt really in love with london. i felt more freedom. when i was going there, it gave me -- [unintelligible] sending like, yes, go on to do the things you feel are good. because it is very conservative in paris. >> only you had come to san francisco. >> yes. >> i can only imagine what you would have produced. into the session. london's ftse 100 just up by .10%. frankfurt up fractionally. paris's cac 40 down by more than .3%. the dollar higher against the yen on expectations that the bank of japan's bold monetary easing will help the economy but the u.s. currency is coming off a bit after reaching the highest point since june 2010 in early asian trading. dollar-yen at 88.80-84. the euro is also gaining against the yen. the european currency is now down at 117.74. that's going to do it for biz tonight. let's get a check now of the markets. >>> the eastern u.s. is seeing warm temperatures, but changes in the forecast. meteorologist robert spet that has the latest. >> yes, gene. all across the eastern seaboard we have just been seeing absolutely temperatures above average. it's all due to this frontal area here. ahead of it you are seeing this warm air come in from the south. that's really been raising up these temperatures. but, yeah, things are going to start to change, because as that pushes off there towards the east, bringing heavy rainfall towards the northeast, the western great lakes will see a mix

milder in the west in london and paris. that system comes in moving warm air from the south both looking at 11 for your high on your friday. let's take a look over towards japan here first where we have this system pushing overhead. bringing rain across much of the country. seeing showers around tokyo. heavy rain showers and do not be surprised if through the overnight hours some of the higher elevations you see some flyers, snow that rain changes over to snow even in the tokyo metro area. might be a flake or two coming down the system. nothing accumulating. on saturday a break in the activity but then on sunday another system is going to be working its way out of china. first move over corre korea. then working its way into japan. seoul on saturday 3 degrees for your high. beijing at minus 4. japan is the holiday week coming up here going into your new year. let's see what it will look like. saturday cloudy skies. sunday rain moving in. at least on new year's eve here and going into new year's day partly cloudy skies. double digits in the overnight hours. bundle up. i want will get cold

this week. london's ftse 100 right now down by a fraction. frankfurt's dax down by 0.17%. the cac 40 in paris down by 0.3%. earlier in asian trading stocks lacked direction. some investors locked in profits sensing that the markets may be overheating. tokyo nikkei average managed a rebound, up by 0.4%. shanghai rose 4.35% to an eight-month high. the hang seng in hong kong slipped from a 20-month high it touched on monday. let's take a look at currencies. the dollar is moving in a tight range against the yen. dollar/yen right now at 90.44 to 48. many want to see the outcome of the fed meetings and a series of key economic numbers and determine how the u.s. economy is doing. euro/yen 104.7 to 50. >>> japanese workers may have a few more yen in their pockets if union leaders get their way. labor and business leaders are discussing a proposed wage hike. >> translator: a wage increase is a way to ending deflation. it's time for businesses to invest in human resources and not cut corners with workers earnings. >> koga asked for an increase of wages much 1%. he said raises based on seniorit
